Hot Springs Cove

I have a good friend who is the teacher/principle in the small remote community of Hot Springs Cove (population 50ish) Sometimes I feel like remote is a bit of an understatement, she is a hour and a half boat ride from Tofino in mostly exposed ocean, and as the winter storms are approaching leaving Hot Springs and getting to town is going to be more challenging. Her class consists of about eight kids aged from kindergarten to grade seven, the school that she teaches in is a brand new, breathtakingly beautiful facility that the whole community gets to take advantage of. Three friends and I went up and visited Car for a while, helped with gym classes and, rowed row boats to the springs and had them to ourselves, and generally enjoyed the beauty and quite solace of where we were. I can't wait to go back, as it is a special place with a really amazing community. Here a a few from the last visit........stay tuned for a upcoming project:)

 One of our sweet chariots that safely transported us to and from the springs, took us doing quite a few 360's but we mastered the crossing by the end.

 We were walking through the community one day and came across an elder heading to his smoke house, he graciously invited us in and proudly showed us his delicious smoked delicacies.

 Mr. B gave us a dog to take to the springs as it was evening when we went over..... i sure was glad for it when we were walking through the forest at dusk. Thanks for looking out for us Mr. B

Fall into Yoga

Yoga and Photography.....Two things that I love. Lucky for me, the two go together just like peas and carrots. The poses are so expressive, and complimentary to the shapes in nature, finding these connections for shoots is what I love so much about about yoga photography. The creative combinations between poses and environment are endless, keeping me inspired to do more. Two Bellies are Better Then One!

     I recently had the pleasure of photographing Mariah, Tasha and little Isaac. Mariah and Tasha are sisters and they are both the same amount pregnant. It was a beautiful day and we shot at some fun locations, we hopped some fences played in streams and wondered through corn fields........ Thanks for being so adventurous ladies, I appreciate it:) Best of luck to you both in this new and exciting time!

Downtown bike adventure

Yesterday my mom and I spontaneously became tourists in our own city. We were downtown Vancouver and she said "next time we come down we gotta bring our bike and bike around the city." As I am not in the city too often and we don't get too many chances to be there together I responded " why don't we just rent bikes now?" And so we did just that. We we gone for about 5 hours and wow, there is no better way to get around the city,  you slow down and see things you wouldn't cause you are too focused on trying not to crash your car or hitting the millions of pedestrians while navigating the hectic city. When you drive you don't get to do things like stop at whatever sunny patio for a cold refreshing beer and delicious snacks, or closely observe the goings on of the crazy city life, and you don't get collide with your mom and crash your bike in front of busy Science world. It was a pretty magical day..... Thanks Momma

It makes me really happy that buildings like this still exist in the city. Some how they manage to escape the growth and modernization of the city, I know that they won't be there for too much longer, as they just don't really fit in anymore. This one was hidden under the Granville St. bridge.

Tutu's, sandy toes, and sunsets.....

 Last night I went down to North Chesterman's and met my 4 year old model Annabelle for a photo shoot. This was the first time she had ever been professionally photographed, she got out of the car and revealed to me the most amazing outfit....... tutu dress, little pink leg warmers and fairy wings.... she picked the outfit  herself, I must say for someone who is so young she has some pretty wicked fashion sense.... look out Jen. I could not have asked for a better evening to shoot, the light was great, Annabelle performed like a pro,  and we even managed to get her big bro Jordan in for a few shots too. The picture's are for a surprise for her Dad's birthday.... I think he will be pretty stoked with his present. Thanks Annabel for being such a fun model, and thanks Jen for being my awesome reflector holder :)
